8 IPS, 1 IAS officers to face action over PM Modi’s 2022 security lapse

In the matter security lapse in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Punjab government has swung into action. Now Chief Secretary VK Janjua has directed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to make chargesheet. When PM Modi went on a tour of Punjab on January 5, 2022, his convoy was stuck on a flyover for half an hour while going from Bathinda airport to Hussainiwala.

Action will be taken against 1 IAS and 8 IPS

The Punjab government is preparing to take action against an IAS officer and 8 IPS officers for negligence in the security of PM Narendra Modi. Apart from the then Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, the names of DIG Siddharth Chattopadhyay, SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, SSP Charanjit Singh, ADGP Nageshwar Rao, ADG Naresh Arora, IG Rakesh Agarwal, IG Inderveer Singh and DIG Surjit Singh are included.

The central government had written a letter asking for action report

Recently the Central Government had written a letter to the Punjab Government seeking an action taken report in the case of PM Modi Security Breach. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla had written a letter to Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua seeking a detailed report of the action taken so far against the guilty officers. Referring to the delay in action in the letter, the action taken report was asked to be submitted, after which the Punjab government has now swung into action.

On January 5 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going to Hussainiwala in Ferozepur district of Punjab. During this, due to rain, PM Modi had to go by road, but during this, protesters blocked the way about 30 km from Hussainiwala and due to this PM Modi's convoy was stuck on a flyover for half an hour.
