90% domestic consumers getting zero power bill: Punjab CM

CM Bhagwant Mann

On Sunday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that the state’s domestic, agricultural, and industrial sectors all receive uninterrupted power and that the government would erect a 206 MW hydroelectricity facility at Pathankot on the Ravi River.

On the occasion of the free power guarantee’s one-year anniversary, which has benefited every sphere of society, he was speaking.

The state government, according to the CM, began offering free electricity to the public on July 1 of last year. Since then, 90% of homes in the state, according to him, receive free electricity and pay no electricity bills. He continued, saying it is a source of great pleasure and happiness that, in addition to domestic consumers,

More than eight hours of uninterrupted power

Mann continued by saying that the farmers are receiving more than eight hours of uninterrupted power and that grateful farmers are sharing videos about the state administration.

The state government has also given the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited a subsidy worth Rs 20,200 crore, according to the chief minister.

According to the CM, this was not made feasible by taking out loans, as previous governments had done, but rather by stopping theft and corruption. After 2015, the Pachwara coal mine’s supply of coal was restored because of the state government’s concerted efforts.

“For the first time in history of the state, Punjab has coal stock of 43 days. Earlier, the threat of blackout loomed large in the state. Across the country, the governments are selling properties to earn money. We have started a reverse trend by purchasing a private thermal plant,” the CM said.
