The Bhagwant Mann government has announced plans to significantly expand its public healthcare network by establishing 243 new Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state. The announcement was shared by the state unit of the Aam Aadmi Party, highlighting healthcare access as a key governance priority.
Expansion of Primary Healthcare Network
According to the statement, the proposed clinics aim to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery by increasing accessibility to basic medical services in both rural and urban areas. Authorities said the expansion will help reduce patient load on larger hospitals while ensuring timely treatment for common illnesses.

Bhagwant Mann: Upgrade of Existing Facilities
In addition to new clinics, the government is considering upgrading 308 sub-health centres to enhance their capacity and services. Officials indicated that these upgrades would include improved infrastructure, expanded diagnostic facilities, and additional medical staff to support patient care.
Assured Medicine Availability
The administration has also committed to ensuring 100% availability of medicines in government health institutions. The move is intended to eliminate shortages, reduce out-of-pocket expenditure for patients, and strengthen trust in public healthcare services.
Policy Focus on Public Health
State authorities emphasised that improving healthcare infrastructure remains a top priority, especially for economically weaker sections who depend on government facilities. The expansion plan is part of a broader strategy aimed at building a stronger primary healthcare system and improving preventive care access.
Governance Perspective
Political observers note that healthcare expansion has become a central policy theme for the current administration, reflecting efforts to showcase visible improvements in public service delivery. Strengthening clinic networks is seen as a step toward decentralised healthcare and better coverage for underserved populations.
Officials maintain that the proposed additions will further strengthen the network of Aam Aadmi Clinics and enhance healthcare accessibility for residents across Punjab.
