Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anurag Dhanda has accused BJP leaders of attempting to defame Punjab by sharing misleading or fake videos on social media.
AAP Leader Anurag Dhanda Accuses BJP of Spreading Fake Videos
Reacting to a report published by The Tribune, Dhanda claimed that BJP leaders had posted three separate videos concerning Punjab and alleged that all three were later found to be fake.
The comments came after Punjab Police reportedly said that a video showing a youth allegedly addicted to drugs, which was shared by BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu, was fake. The Tribune reported on September 4 that police described the video as another instance of Punjab being “defamed.”
Dhanda questioned
Dhanda questioned whether the alleged incidents were enough to suggest a coordinated attempt to portray Punjab negatively. He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi while making his allegations against the BJP.
The controversy has once again brought attention to the use of social media videos in political discourse, particularly when claims about drug abuse and law-and-order conditions in Punjab are involved.
AAP has maintained that misleading social media content is being used to damage Punjab’s image, while the political controversy continues to draw reactions from both sides.
