Anurag Dhanda Highlights Dalit IPS Officer Puran Kumar’s Suicide, Calls for Justice in Haryana

The deceased officer’s room contained a seven-page suicide note, in which he reportedly accused senior officials of discrimination and harassment, shedding light on alleged workplace biases and pressures.

A recent incident in Haryana, where Dalit IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar reportedly took his own life, has sparked a major political and public debate. The opposition, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, has raised serious questions about the circumstances leading to the tragedy, demanding accountability and justice. Meanwhile, Anurag Dhanda, AAP’s national media in-charge, shared Kejriwal’s post on social media platform X, highlighting the gravity of the issue.

Anurag Dhanda Shares Kejriwal’s Video

In the video shared by Dhanda, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Dalit IPS officer Puran Kumar in Haryana faced such extreme harassment because of his caste that he was forced to take his own life. Those responsible must be punished severely at the earliest. Today, while a Chief Justice was targeted with a shoe, trolls on social media are humiliating Dalits and even abusing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Where has this country reached?”

SIT Formed to Investigate the Suicide

Given the seriousness of the case, Chandigarh Police has formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the circumstances of Y. Puran Kumar’s death. The deceased officer’s room contained a seven-page suicide note, in which he reportedly accused senior officials of discrimination and harassment, shedding light on alleged workplace biases and pressures.

The case continues to attract national attention, with political leaders and social activists calling for swift and strict action against those allegedly responsible, while also raising concerns about systemic discrimination faced by Dalit officers in public services.
