Anurag Dhanda: The political atmosphere in Punjab is heating up once again after a second Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid has sparked a major controversy.
What Triggered the Controversy?
The ED recently carried out another raid in Punjab, making it the second such action within a short period. While the agency claims these are part of ongoing investigations, the timing and repetition have raised eyebrows across political circles. Opposition leaders believe that such frequent raids are not just routine investigations but something bigger and more politically driven.
Anurag Dhanda’s Strong Statement
Reacting strongly, Anurag Dhanda questioned the intent behind these raids. He stated that targeting the same state repeatedly shows a clear pattern. According to him, this is not about law enforcement anymore, but about creating pressure on governments that are not aligned with the Centre. His words clearly reflect the growing frustration among opposition parties regarding the use of central agencies.
“Direct Attack on Federal Structure”
One of the biggest concerns raised by Dhanda is about India’s federal system. He highlighted that the Constitution gives equal importance to both the Centre and the states. However, continuous intervention through agencies like the ED disturbs this balance. Dhanda argued that such actions weaken the independence of state governments and create an unhealthy political environment.
Is There a Political Angle?
The Aam Aadmi Party has hinted that these raids might have a political motive. Since Punjab is governed by AAP, leaders believe that the state is being deliberately targeted. They argue that instead of focusing on governance, such actions are being used to influence political narratives and gain an upper hand.
Government’s Stand vs Opposition’s Allegations
On the other side, authorities maintain that the Enforcement Directorate is functioning independently and is only doing its duty. According to them, investigations are based on evidence, not politics. But the opposition is not convinced
