The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, has launched an online portal for the Ashirwad Scheme, aimed at providing financial assistance of ₹51,000 for the marriage of daughters from Scheduled Castes (SC), Backward Classes (BC), and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

Key Features of the Ashirwad Scheme

Financial Aid: ₹51,000 assistance for eligible beneficiaries.

Who Can Apply? SC, BC, and EWS families.

Income Criteria: Annual family income must be less than ₹32,790.

Application Process: Entirely online through the newly launched portal (ashirwad.punjab.gov.in)—eliminating the need for physical visits.

The Punjab Government highlighted that this initiative ensures ease, transparency, and accessibility, enabling families to avail benefits without any bureaucratic hurdles. The move is expected to empower underprivileged families and reduce financial burdens associated with marriage expenses.

With the launch of this portal, the AAP government continues its focus on welfare-driven governance, ensuring that schemes reach the intended beneficiaries efficiently.

A Step Towards Digital Governance and Transparency

The Punjab Government emphasized that the shift to a 100% online system would bring greater transparency, eliminate corruption, and ensure quicker processing of applications. The move aligns with the state’s broader objective of digital governance, where welfare schemes are made more accessible to citizens through technology.

Financial Relief for Underprivileged Families

Marriage-related expenses often put immense financial strain on underprivileged families, especially those from marginalized communities. By providing this monetary aid, the Punjab government aims to ease the burden and support families in ensuring a dignified wedding for their daughters. The scheme is expected to benefit thousands of families annually, fostering social welfare and economic relief.
