Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann interacted with residents during a public outreach programme in Mandi Kalan village of the Maur Assembly constituency, where he announced a series of development initiatives and welfare measures aimed at improving local infrastructure and public services.

Addressing villagers, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the support and participation of local residents. He announced a grant of ₹50 lakh for the development of the village and also approved the establishment of a new library to promote education and learning among students and youth.

Welfare Measures During Mandi Kalan Public Outreach Event
Mann further announced the renovation of a 55-year-old community dharamshala, stating that the project would help preserve an important public facility while improving amenities for local residents and visitors.
During the programme, the Chief Minister also highlighted various welfare initiatives being implemented by the state government. He said that under the proposed “Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana,” eligible women would begin receiving financial assistance from July 1, with beneficiaries receiving support covering a three-month period.
The Chief Minister also referred to the government’s efforts to strengthen legal provisions against incidents of sacrilege. According to him, the proposed legislation includes stringent penalties, including life imprisonment and substantial financial penalties for those found guilty under the law.
Speaking about agriculture, Mann stated that the government has focused on improving irrigation infrastructure and increasing the availability of canal water for farmers. He said expanded canal water usage is helping reduce dependence on groundwater while supporting agricultural productivity across the state.
The Chief Minister added that measures have also been taken to ensure daytime electricity supply for farmers, enabling them to manage irrigation and agricultural activities more efficiently.
Officials noted that public interaction programmes such as Lok Milni provide an opportunity for residents to directly communicate their concerns and suggestions to the government. The administration believes such engagements help improve governance and ensure that development projects are aligned with local needs.
Mann reiterated the government’s commitment to rural development, public welfare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure expansion, stating that efforts would continue to improve the quality of life for people across Punjab.
