Bhagwant Mann arrested 76 alleged drug smugglers as part of its ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics networks across the state.

According to the Punjab Police, the arrests were made during its sustained anti-drug campaign, with authorities targeting individuals involved in the supply and distribution of illegal substances.
Police said they recovered 967 grams of heroin, 300 grams of opium, 7,361 intoxicant pills and ₹2,650 in suspected drug money from the arrested individuals.

The latest action forms part of the state police’s continued efforts to disrupt drug networks and curb the availability of narcotic substances. The authorities have been carrying out enforcement operations against suspected drug smugglers as part of the wider anti-drug campaign.
Alongside enforcement measures, Punjab Police also focused on rehabilitation and de-addiction. Sixteen individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, according to the police.
The police said that combining strict action against drug trafficking with rehabilitation efforts is an important part of addressing the wider challenge of drug abuse.
The crackdown comes under the Punjab Police’s ongoing #YudhNashianVirudh campaign, which focuses on action against drug-related activities while encouraging affected individuals to seek treatment and rehabilitation.
Punjab Police said it would continue its efforts against drug networks and work towards making the state safer and reducing the impact of narcotics on communities.
