The Bhagwant Mann has intensified its ongoing crackdown against drug networks across the state, arresting 81 alleged drug smugglers and recovering heroin, opium, intoxicant pills and drug money, officials said.

According to the Punjab Police, the arrests were made as part of its sustained anti-drug campaign, being carried out under the banner of #YudhNashianVirudh in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Punjab.
Recovers Heroin, Opium and Intoxicant Pills
The police said a total of 1.3 kg of heroin was recovered during the operation. In addition, enforcement teams seized 530 grams of opium from the accused during the crackdown.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of 7,359 intoxicant pills, highlighting the police focus on tackling the supply of different forms of narcotic substances in the state.
The Punjab Police further reported the seizure of ₹710 in suspected drug money from the possession of those arrested. The recoveries formed part of the action being taken against individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
Alongside enforcement measures, the Punjab Police also focused on rehabilitation and de-addiction. According to the department, six individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
The counselling initiative reflects an approach that combines action against drug suppliers and smugglers with efforts to encourage people struggling with substance dependence to seek treatment and rehabilitation.
The Punjab Police said the crackdown would continue as part of its sustained efforts against drug networks. The campaign combines enforcement action with rehabilitation measures aimed at addressing both the supply and human impact of drug abuse.
