Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday launched the state’s ambitious ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ under the ‘Yudh Nashe De Viruddh’ (War Against Drugs) campaign. The inaugural event was held at Jalalpur village in Hoshiarpur district and was streamed live.

Speaking from the launch site, CM Mann emphasized the government’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse from the state. “This is not just a political promise; this is a movement to save Punjab’s youth,” he said. Arvind Kejriwal echoed the sentiment, stating that strict measures and grassroots campaigns will be implemented to make Punjab drug-free.
The ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ aims to raise awareness, mobilize communities, and expose networks that contribute to drug trafficking and addiction. It will cover multiple districts in the coming days, involving students, social workers, law enforcement, and local leaders.

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government has made anti-drug efforts a cornerstone of its governance strategy, especially in light of rising concerns about substance abuse affecting rural and urban youth alike.
The campaign also includes a strong rehabilitation framework, support systems for affected families, and a public helpline for reporting drug-related activities.
As part of the broader strategy, the Punjab government has also planned an increase in drug de-addiction centres, regular surprise checks by law enforcement in vulnerable zones, and stricter punishments for those involved in drug trafficking.
Officials also confirmed the launch of a state-wide 24x7 helpline where citizens can confidentially report drug-related activities. Awareness vans, rehab camps, and police-community coordination meetings are scheduled as part of the next phase of the campaign.
Bhagwant Mann concluded the flag-off ceremony with a strong message: “We will not rest until the last trace of this menace is removed from our soil.”
