An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Officials said further investigation is underway to identify the complete network, trace cross-border supply routes, and uncover other operatives linked to the smuggling racket.

Officials said the seizure of nearly 20 kg of heroin has potentially prevented thousands of doses of the deadly drug from reaching the streets, especially the youth of Punjab. The recovered contraband is estimated to have a high international market value, indicating the scale at which cross-border drug syndicates are operating. Police sources described the recovery as one of the significant drug hauls in recent weeks.

Senior police officials stated that the joint operation highlights strong coordination between the Punjab Police and the BSF in safeguarding the international border and preventing the inflow of drugs from across the border. The ANTF is now focusing on dismantling the entire syndicate and identifying financial links connected to the seized heroin.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against drugs, the Punjab Police said it remains resolute in its mission to eradicate the drug menace and destroy cross-border narco-terror networks threatening the youth and security of the state.
