Bhagwant Mann has claimed a major breakthrough in its anti-drug operations after the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted an alleged international drug smuggling module and arrested two accused individuals.
According to Director General of Police Punjab Gaurav Yadav, police recovered 10 kilograms of ICE (Methamphetamine) and 4 kilograms of heroin during the operation.
Bhagwant Mann: Links to Dubai-Based Drug Network
Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the arrested individuals were allegedly in contact with a Dubai-based drug smuggler operating from Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Officials stated that the accused were allegedly acting on instructions from the overseas handler to transport and distribute narcotics in Punjab and Delhi.
Police further claimed that one of the accused had recently returned from Dubai, where he was allegedly trained and assigned responsibilities related to trafficking consignments of heroin and methamphetamine.
Supply Network Spread Across Punjab Regions
Investigators suspect that the narcotics were intended for distribution across the Majha and Doaba regions of Punjab. Authorities stated that efforts are underway to identify the broader network, including suppliers, receivers, and other associates connected to the alleged smuggling operation.
An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar.
Investigation Continues
Police officials said that further investigation is ongoing to establish both backward and forward linkages of the network and to determine whether additional recoveries or arrests may follow.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has repeatedly emphasized strict action against drug trafficking and organized crime in the state. Punjab Police stated that it remains committed to intensifying anti-drug operations and working toward a safer and drug-free Punjab.
