Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly defended the state against what he termed as unfair targeting over the drug issue, while reiterating his government’s commitment to the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashe Virudh’.
Referring to the seizure of nearly 3,000 quintals of drugs at a port in Gujarat, the Chief Minister questioned the lack of visible action in that case, while Punjab continues to be repeatedly labelled in the name of drugs despite its historic contributions to the nation.
Bhagwant Mann: Punjab’s Contribution, Not Its Stereotyping
CM Bhagwant Mann said Punjab has played a leading role in India’s freedom struggle and the Green Revolution, yet the state is being defamed through constant association with drug abuse. He stressed that such narratives overlook Punjab’s sacrifices and resilience.
“The fight against drugs is not about politics, it is about restoring Punjab’s honour and health,” the Chief Minister said.
‘Yudh Nashe Virudh’ as a Health and Social Mission
Describing Yudh Nashe Virudh as a mission for public health and social reform, Mann said the campaign is focused on erasing the stigma of drug abuse and protecting the younger generation. The initiative combines strict action against smugglers with awareness and rehabilitation efforts.
History Will Remember the Protectors of Punjab
The Chief Minister asserted that those who stand guard and actively support the mission to wipe out the stain of drugs from Punjab will be remembered in history. He appealed to citizens, officials and security agencies to unite in the fight against narcotics.
The statement underscores the Bhagwant Mann government’s firm stance on drugs and its resolve to ensure a healthy, drug-free Punjab, while challenging selective narratives that tarnish the state’s image.
