On the joyous occasion of Chhath Puja 2025, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sent his warm regards to the populace of Punjab and India as a whole. Chhath Puja is a festival of stunning devotion and faith, particularly amongst the inhabitants of Bihar, UP, and Northern India.
In his message, Mann emphasised the importance of the occasion as a festival celebrating and giving thanks to the Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya, who are said to give health, prosperity, and happiness to their devotees. He praised the festivities for being an occasion of purity, discipline, and devotion, where family cohesiveness and community can be strengthened.
A Festival of Faith and Nature
Chhath Puja is celebrated for its tough rules, where the devotees fast, take holy dips in rivers or ponds, and offer arghya to the setting sun and rising sun for four days. It reflects the respect for nature and three important elements of life, i.e., water, sunlight and earth. Therefore, it is one of the environmentally-friendly traditions in Indian culture.
Mann hailed the devotion of devotees adhering to age-old customs with faith. He added that festivals like these showcase India’s cultural diversity and spiritual heritage, uniting communities beyond the regional divide and faith.
Emphasis on Harmony and Cleanliness
Reinforcing the important message of collective harmony, Bhagwant Mann urged citizens to celebrate the festival with peace and cleanliness of water bodies used for rituals. He stated that observing cleanliness and environmental responsibility during events represents true devotion.
The Punjab government, he said, will remain engaged to provide all necessary support and facilities to all of the worshippers of Chhath Puja, across the state, for safe and smooth celebrations.
Message of Hope and Positivity
Closing his message, the chief minister said,
“May the divine blessings of Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya bring happiness, good health, and prosperity to every household. Let this Chhath Puja infuse our lives with harmony and gratitude.”
As the sun descends on the evening of Chhath, the festival will continue to be exalted for expressing faith, purity, and strength of community prayer and to continue to illuminate warmth and positivity throughout the coast of India.
