The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Friday reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against corruption, presenting detailed figures on action taken through the Anti-Corruption Action Line and the Vigilance Bureau.
Bhagwant Mann: Anti-Corruption Action Line Sees Thousands of Complaints
During a press conference, CM Mann stated that a total of 12,218 complaints were received through the Anti-Corruption Action Line. Out of these, 10,820 complaints were forwarded for further action.
As part of the crackdown, authorities registered 275 FIRs, leading to the arrest of 341 accused individuals, reflecting what the government described as a proactive approach to tackling corruption at multiple levels.
Vigilance Bureau Intensifies Operations
The Vigilance Bureau has also stepped up its efforts significantly over the past four years. According to the data shared:
- 487 raids were conducted across the state
- 534 cases were registered against 1,215 individuals for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income
- Courts have delivered convictions in 143 cases
Additionally, the Vigilance Bureau received 217 complaints through its toll-free number, out of which 155 cases have already been resolved.
Government Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Policy
The Mann government emphasized that these actions demonstrate its firm commitment to eradicating corruption and ensuring accountability in governance. Officials noted that continuous monitoring, swift investigation, and legal action remain key pillars of the state’s anti-corruption strategy.
The administration also urged citizens to actively report corrupt practices, assuring strict and timely action on all verified complaints.
