The government has projected the initiative as part of its broader effort to empower women and improve their ability to meet household and personal needs without being entirely dependent on others for financial support.

AAP Punjab said the monthly assistance can provide women with greater financial stability while also contributing to their participation in household decision-making and improving their overall economic independence.

The initiative also reflects the Punjab government’s focus on welfare measures targeted at women and families. By providing direct financial assistance, the government aims to extend support to women at the grassroots level and ensure that welfare benefits reach beneficiaries directly.

The scheme has been presented by the AAP government as an important component of its women-centric welfare agenda, with the larger objective of building a more financially empowered and self-reliant section of women in Punjab.

The Bhagwant Mann government has maintained that empowering women is essential for the state’s overall social and economic development.
