Bhagwant Mann Government Launches New VDC App in Punjab: Arvind Kejriwal Says Identity of Informers Will Remain Confidential

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launches a new Village Defence Committee mobile application to combat drug trafficking. Arvind Kejriwal confirms strict confidentiality for informers, boosting grassroots participation under the Nasha Mukti Yatra campaign.

Bhagwant mann: Punjab has taken a decisive technological leap in its war against drugs. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the state government has launched a dedicated mobile application for Village Defence Committees to strengthen grassroots action against drug trafficking.

The move is part of the broader “Nasha Mukti Yatra” campaign and aims to empower citizens with a secure and confidential platform to report drug-related activities in their areas. With technology now directly in the hands of communities, the government is reinforcing its zero-tolerance stance on narcotics.

Tech-Driven Vigilance at the Grassroots Level

The newly launched Village Defence Committee application allows members to share real-time tips about suspected drug peddlers directly with authorities. The system is designed to speed up intelligence flow while maintaining strict confidentiality.

According to Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, the identity of informers will remain completely confidential, ensuring that citizens can report information without fear. This assurance is expected to boost public participation in the anti-drug mission.

More than 33,000 tips have already been received through earlier coordination mechanisms, showing strong community support for the campaign.

Strengthening the Nasha Mukti Yatra Mission

The app complements ongoing district-level meetings involving sarpanches, ward members, and police officials. It ensures seamless coordination between citizens and law enforcement agencies.

This initiative reflects Bhagwant Mann’s broader governance model that combines technology with accountability. From transport monitoring apps to women’s safety tools, the Punjab government has consistently adopted digital solutions to improve transparency and service delivery.

With the launch of the Village Defence Committee application, the Mann government signals that the fight against drugs is not just administrative — it is a collective movement powered by community trust and secure digital infrastructure.
