AAP Punjab stated that the sentiments expressed by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib are being treated with utmost respect. In line with this, the Mann government had earlier constituted a dedicated committee to frame a comprehensive law against sacrilege. The committee has been actively working on the legal framework while engaging in consultations with representatives from different religious communities to ensure inclusivity and harmony.

Party General Secretary and Media In-charge Baltej Pannu said the proposed legislation is being carefully drafted to uphold the dignity of all religious texts, irrespective of faith. He added that the government is making sure the law is robust, constitutionally sound, and capable of delivering strict punishment to those found guilty of sacrilege-related offences.

According to AAP Punjab, the objective of the law is not only punitive but also preventive, ensuring that such incidents do not disturb social peace and communal harmony in the state. The government believes that a clear and stringent legal framework will act as a strong deterrent against attempts to hurt religious sentiments.
