Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh inspected ongoing drainage and flood management works in Patiala along with the Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Corporation officials to review preparations ahead of the monsoon season.

During the visit, the minister assessed the progress of development works related to the city’s Big Nadi (Badi Nadi), Small Nadi (Chhoti Nadi), drainage system, and stormwater disposal network. He said the inspections were aimed at ensuring that the infrastructure is ready to handle heavy rainfall.

Dr Balbir Singh stated that the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government is committed to providing a permanent solution to Patiala’s recurring waterlogging and rainwater drainage problems. He said efforts are being made to strengthen the drainage infrastructure to improve its efficiency.

The minister added that work is progressing rapidly at the ground level to upgrade the drainage network so that residents do not face inconvenience during periods of heavy rainfall. He said the government is closely monitoring the execution of these projects to ensure timely completion.

The Punjab Government has maintained that improving urban infrastructure and preventing flooding during the monsoon remain key priorities, with departments working in coordination to enhance drainage facilities and minimise disruption to public life.
