Bhagwant Mann Government Takes Strict Action! SSP Suspended for Failing to Control Gang Crime, Police Department on High Alert

The action taken against SSP Maninder Singh is part of this broader campaign.

The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has taken a tough stance against rising gang-related activities. Acting on the Chief Minister’s instructions, Amritsar Rural SSP Maninder Singh has been suspended. The senior police officer reportedly failed to take effective action against gangsters operating in the region.

According to officials, the decision was taken after multiple complaints reached the government, highlighting SSP Maninder Singh’s inability to curb organised crime. Following the suspension, the police department across the state has been placed on alert.

SSP Penalised for Failure to Control Organised Crime

The Punjab government has moved decisively against SSP Maninder Singh, who was posted in Amritsar Rural. Sources indicate that despite repeated warnings, the officer did not take substantial action against gangsters and organised crime networks active in the district.

Taking the matter seriously, CM Bhagwant Mann directed the Home Department to suspend the SSP immediately. The strong action signals the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward negligence in handling gang operations. During the Tarn Taran by-election as well, CM Mann had reiterated that his administration would continue to crack down on drug traffickers, gangsters, mafias, and all forms of organised criminal networks.

Bhagwant Mann Government Sending a Strong Message: No Compromise on Law and Order

The Punjab government has reinforced that no individual—whether a criminal, trafficker, mafia member, or corrupt official—will be spared if found violating the law. The action taken against SSP Maninder Singh is part of this broader campaign.

CM Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet frequently emphasize on public platforms that establishing strong law and order in Punjab remains a top priority. The suspension also acts as a warning to officers across the state that any negligence in tackling organised crime will result in immediate disciplinary action
