Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that strict accountability mechanisms have been built into the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Scholarship Portal to prevent misuse of the scheme and ensure that benefits reach eligible students without leakages.
Bhagwant Mann Government Tightens Oversight on Ambedkar Scholarship Portal
In a statement, the Chief Minister said the portal has been designed in a way that no individual or institution can turn the welfare scheme into a scam. He made it clear that any college found attempting to claim scholarships through fake or inflated admissions would face strict legal action.
Zero Tolerance for Fraud
CM Mann warned that educational institutions indulging in fraudulent practices would not be spared. “If any college tries to obtain scholarships by showing fake enrolments, stringent action will be taken against it,” he said, underlining the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in education welfare schemes.
Ensuring Transparency and Student Welfare
The Chief Minister said the revamped portal ensures greater transparency, verification and monitoring, making it difficult for intermediaries to exploit the system. He added that the objective is to protect the rights of students from marginalised and disadvantaged sections, for whom the scholarship scheme has been introduced.
Strengthening Trust in Welfare Schemes
The Punjab government said that enhanced digital checks and accountability will help restore trust in public welfare programmes and ensure that public funds are used solely for the intended beneficiaries. The administration reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by ensuring integrity in schemes launched in his name.
