The anti-drug campaign launched by the government led by Bhagwant Mann in Punjab continued with intensified action as Punjab Police arrested 72 drug smugglers during operations carried out across the state.

According to the police, the arrests were made on Day 371 of the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, a state-wide initiative aimed at curbing drug trafficking and substance abuse.

During the crackdown, officials recovered 2.3 kilograms of heroin, 7 kilograms of ganja, 109 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and ₹1,000 believed to be drug money from the accused.
Police teams conducted raids at multiple locations across Punjab as part of the campaign. Authorities said the operations are being carried out regularly to dismantle drug supply networks and prevent illegal narcotics from reaching communities.
In addition to enforcement actions, the campaign also focuses on rehabilitation. Officials said 34 individuals were persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, highlighting efforts to help those struggling with substance abuse return to normal life.
According to data shared by the police, a total of 52,527 drug smugglers have been arrested over the past 371 days as part of the sustained drive against narcotics in the state.
The campaign forms a key part of the state government’s broader strategy to tackle the drug problem in Punjab through strict law enforcement, public awareness and rehabilitation initiatives. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continuing the drive until drug trafficking networks are significantly weakened.
