Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Police is continuing its sustained crackdown on drug networks as part of the state’s ongoing anti-drug campaign. According to Punjab Police, 77 drug smugglers were arrested, while 6.8 kg of heroin, 40 kg of poppy husk, 193 intoxicant pills and ₹1,800 in drug money were recovered.

The police said the action is part of the #YudhNashianVirudh campaign, which has been continuing for 541 days as authorities step up efforts against drug trafficking and related networks across Punjab.

Alongside enforcement action, the campaign also includes efforts to support individuals struggling with substance use. Punjab Police said 13 people were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
The latest arrests and recoveries highlight the twin approach being adopted by the state—targeting those involved in drug trafficking while encouraging affected individuals to seek treatment and rehabilitation.
