Bhagwant Mann Government’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ Enters Day 316: Punjab Police Arrest 68 Drug Smugglers

Officials said this balanced approach aims not only to punish traffickers but also to help victims of addiction return to mainstream society.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab’s aggressive anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ continued unabated on Day 316, with Punjab Police intensifying action against drug networks across the state. As part of the sustained crackdown, 68 drug smugglers were arrested following coordinated raids at multiple locations.

According to official data released by Punjab Police India, raids were conducted at 269 locations across Punjab, leading to the recovery of heroin, opium, intoxicant tablets, and drug money. The operation was carried out by teams of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) along with district police units, highlighting a well-coordinated and technology-driven enforcement strategy.

With these latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested in the last 316 days has reached 44,084, reflecting the scale and consistency of the Mann government’s campaign to root out the drug menace. The government has repeatedly emphasized that there will be zero tolerance for drug trafficking, irrespective of the influence or location of the accused.

Alongside strict enforcement, the Punjab government is also focusing on rehabilitation. On Day 316, 60 individuals struggling with substance abuse were motivated to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment, reinforcing the state’s EDP strategy—Enforcement, De-addiction, and Prevention. Officials said this balanced approach aims not only to punish traffickers but also to help victims of addiction return to mainstream society.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has consistently stated that the fight against drugs is crucial for safeguarding Punjab’s youth and future generations. The government believes that eliminating supply chains, breaking smuggling networks, and supporting recovery efforts together form the backbone of a drug-free Punjab mission.

Punjab Police officials reiterated that the campaign will continue with the same intensity in the coming days. Enhanced surveillance, intelligence-led operations, and public cooperation remain key pillars of the ongoing drive.
