Bhagwant Mann Highlights Role of Panchayats in Nation Building, Says Punjab’s Future Depends on Strong and Developed Villages

Bhagwant Mann emphasized that Panchayats play a key role in nation building and grassroots governance.

Punjab’s growth story has always been deeply connected to its villages. Recently, Bhagwant Mann highlighted the crucial role of Panchayats in shaping the future of the state.

Panchayats: The Foundation of Nation Building

Bhagwant Mann stressed that Panchayats are not just local governing bodies but the backbone of grassroots democracy. They are the first point of contact between the government and the people in rural areas. From managing local development projects to addressing everyday issues, Panchayats ensure that governance reaches the last mile. Their role in implementing policies effectively makes them an essential pillar in nation-building.

Strong Villages, Strong Punjab

According to Bhagwant Mann, the real strength of Punjab lies in its villages. He pointed out that development should not be limited to cities alone. Instead, equal focus must be given to rural areas to ensure balanced growth. When villages are equipped with better infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities, the overall progress of the state accelerates. Strong villages directly contribute to a stronger and more self-reliant Punjab.

Enabling Panchayats for Effective Administration

The chief minister also discussed the importance of empowering Panchayats with resources, power, and awareness. With proper means provided, Panchayat members would be able to take quick decisions and implement them successfully.

Empowered Panchayats could do the following:

• Upgrade the physical infrastructure

• Increase awareness and educate people

• Help the farmers and other rural businessmen

• Administer in a transparent manner

Such an empowered Panchayat would contribute significantly to quick development.

Collective Approach towards Rural Development

Bhagwant Mann said that all stakeholders needed to unite for rural development. The development of villages was not the sole responsibility of the government, and citizens must actively participate in this process, too. Active participation of all people in the development processes would speed up development.
