Bhagwant Mann Holds Review Meeting in Ludhiana, Announces First Phase Rollout of 144 Vehicles with 1300 Cops

The Punjab government has finalized the implementation of the Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF), a specialized road safety unit, with the approval of its uniform by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. In the first phase, 144 dedicated vehicles will be deployed to check rash driving and ensure smoother traffic flow to prevent accidents. This will also help ease the workload of regular police officers stationed at police stations.

Announces First Phase Rollout of 144 Vehicles with 1300 Cops

For the SSF, 1300 cops will be recruited initially. The vehicles to be launched include 116 Isuzu vehicles to be stationed every 30 kilometers and 28 SUVs equipped with speed radars. These vehicles will also carry medical kits to provide emergency treatment when needed.

During a review meeting with police officials, Chief Minister Mann emphasized that the uniforms for the SSF must have reflectors, making it easier for people in distress to spot them from a distance. He expressed hope that this innovative initiative will serve as a model for other states to follow.

Aside from his duties related to the SSF, Chief Minister Mann also visited the family of late Punjabi singer Surinder Shinda to offer his condolences. He praised Shinda’s contributions to the Punjabi music industry and culture and assured the family of the government’s support in honoring the singer’s legacy. Mann fondly remembered growing up listening to Shinda’s melodious voice and how popular he was during those times, with people even scheduling their weddings around his availability.
