Bhagwant Mann Intensifies Anti-Drug Crackdown
According to official information, police teams conducted raids at 294 locations across Punjab, leading to the arrest of 71 drug smugglers and the registration of 54 FIRs. The action was led by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Punjab, as part of the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
Major Recoveries During the Operation
During the raids, Punjab Police recovered:
- 1.3 kg of heroin
- 208 intoxicant tablets and capsules
- Drug money
In addition to enforcement, the police also focused on rehabilitation. 27 individuals were motivated to seek de-addiction and rehabilitation support, highlighting a parallel approach of strict action and social reform.
Over 44,700 Drug Smugglers Arrested So Far
With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended in 321 days has reached 44,701, reflecting the scale and intensity of the ongoing anti-drug drive.
Punjab Police reiterated that the campaign will continue with full force to ensure a drug-free and safe Punjab, urging citizens to cooperate and report drug-related activities.
The sustained crackdown under the leadership of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann remains a key step towards building a Nasha Mukt Punjab.
Senior police officials said such coordinated operations are being conducted regularly to dismantle drug supply chains at every level, from street-level peddlers to larger networks operating across districts and state borders.

Police teams are increasing surveillance in sensitive areas, especially near schools, colleges, and residential colonies, to prevent young people from falling into substance abuse.
