According to the Punjab Police, the large-scale operation led to the recovery of 485 grams of heroin, 120 kilograms of poppy husk, 1,184 intoxicant tablets and capsules, along with ₹7,400 in drug money.

Statewide Raids Target Drug Networks

The action was carried out by teams of @ANTFPunjab, targeting both urban and rural areas as part of the state government’s sustained war against drugs. Police said the operation aimed at dismantling supply chains and identifying repeat offenders involved in narcotics trafficking.

With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested in 328 days has reached 46,381, reflecting the scale of the ongoing campaign.

The operation involved intelligence-based inputs, surveillance and coordination between district police units and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, ensuring swift action against suspected drug traffickers.

Cumulative Impact of the Campaign

With the latest arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended in the last 328 days has risen to 46,381, underscoring the scale and intensity of Punjab’s anti-drug campaign. Officials said sustained pressure has helped weaken organised drug networks and deter new entrants into the illegal trade.

Punjab Police stated that continuous monitoring and follow-up investigations are being conducted to trace financial links and larger syndicates involved in narcotics trafficking.

Emphasis on Rehabilitation and Social Reform

In parallel with enforcement action, the police also focused on rehabilitation and social reform. During the drive, 47 individuals were motivated to seek de-addiction and rehabilitation, reflecting the government’s approach of combining strict policing with humanitarian intervention.

Officials noted that awareness programmes, counselling and coordination with health departments are being strengthened to ensure long-term recovery and reintegration of affected individuals into society.

Focus on De-addiction and Rehabilitation

Alongside enforcement measures, Punjab Police also emphasized rehabilitation. During the drive, 47 individuals were motivated to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation, highlighting the government’s dual approach of strict action against smugglers and support for drug-dependent individuals.

Government’s Stand Against Drugs

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government has repeatedly stated that it will adopt a zero-tolerance policy against drugs while strengthening awareness, treatment and reintegration programmes.

The ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign continues to be one of the largest sustained anti-narcotics drives in Punjab, aimed at making the state drug-free and safeguarding youth from substance abuse.
