The Chief Minister stated that such initiatives reflect the eternal message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who stood fearlessly for humanity, religious freedom, and social harmony.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed devotees at Sri Anandpur Sahib as he inaugurated a mega blood donation camp and a statewide plantation drive dedicated to the 350th martyrdom year of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Ninth Sikh Guru. The event, streamed live from the holy city, witnessed an overwhelming response from Sangat arriving to pay tributes to the Guru known as “Hind Di Chadar” for his supreme sacrifice.

The Chief Minister stated that such initiatives reflect the eternal message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who stood fearlessly for humanity, religious freedom, and social harmony. Mann emphasised that the blood donation camp is not just an act of service but a tribute to the Guru’s teachings of compassion, courage, and selflessness. Along with this, thousands of saplings were planted to promote environmental preservation — a value deeply rooted in Sikh philosophy that encourages protection of nature.

Anandpur Sahib holds immense significance in Sikhism

Historically, Anandpur Sahib holds immense significance in Sikhism as it was founded by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji himself in 1665. It later became a centre of spiritual learning and social reform under Guru Gobind Singh Ji. With the 350th martyrdom anniversary being observed nationwide, Punjab has planned multiple commemorative events, paying respect to the Guru’s extraordinary stand against forced conversions and tyranny during the Mughal era.

Bhagwant Mann highlighted that the state government is committed to organising accessible and meaningful programs so devotees from across the country and abroad can participate peacefully. He added that such ceremonies not only honour Sikh heritage but also inspire the younger generation to understand the values of bravery, unity, and sacrifice.

With the blood donation drive, plantation campaign, and continuous footfall of devotees, Anandpur Sahib has once again emerged as a centre of devotion and community service, reflecting the timeless legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
