Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on Thursday announced the launch of a new youth outreach initiative under the state’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” (War Against Drugs) campaign, aimed at encouraging young people to pursue careers in the armed forces and police services.

The initiative was launched at Polo Ground in Patiala and is designed to provide aspiring candidates with accurate information and guidance on recruitment to the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and Punjab Police.

As part of the programme, information boards containing details about the recruitment process, eligibility criteria, physical fitness standards, selection procedures, and other essential requirements will be installed outside sports grounds. The government said the initiative is intended to make authentic recruitment-related information easily accessible to youth preparing for competitive selection.
According to the minister, the information boards will be installed at around 400 sports grounds across Patiala, enabling a large number of young people to access career guidance within their local communities. Officials believe the initiative will help reduce misinformation while encouraging greater participation in defence and police recruitment drives.
Dr. Balbir Singh said the programme is also intended to support the state’s anti-drug campaign by motivating young people to remain engaged in sports, physical fitness, and career-oriented activities. He said providing constructive opportunities and proper guidance can help steer youth away from substance abuse while inspiring them to serve the nation and society.
