Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the construction and maintenance of 23 new rural link roads in the Majitha constituency of Amritsar district, with a total project cost exceeding ₹11.32 crore.

The foundation stone was laid during a state-level programme held at the Dana Mandi in Majitha, where CM Mann said that all road projects will be completed within the stipulated timeframe and dedicated to the public as promised.

Highlighting the importance of rural connectivity, the Chief Minister said the new rural link roads will significantly ease commuting for farmers, local residents, and daily commuters, who have long faced difficulties due to poor road conditions. Improved road infrastructure will also facilitate smoother transportation of agricultural produce.

CM Bhagwant Mann announced that along with construction, the maintenance of these roads will be ensured for the next five years, aiming to prevent future deterioration and inconvenience to the public. He emphasised that long-term upkeep is essential to ensure durability and value for public money.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency, the Chief Minister said that every rupee collected from taxpayers will be utilised honestly and judiciously. He stressed that infrastructure development must directly benefit common people, particularly those living in rural areas.

The Punjab government, he said, remains fully committed to strengthening road connectivity in villages and ensuring that residents of rural Punjab have access to quality infrastructure and essential facilities. The initiative is part of the state’s broader effort to improve rural development and boost economic activity at the grassroots level.

The event was attended by local representatives, officials, and residents, who welcomed the move as a significant step towards improving rural infrastructure in the region.
