Bhagwant Mann: Punjab’s fight against drugs just got another big win. On Day 556 of the state’s ongoing anti-drug mission, Punjab Police arrested 100 drug smugglers and seized a large stash of banned substances, sending a strong message to anyone involved in the illegal drug trade.

What Did the Police Seize?

During the latest operation, police teams recovered 353 grams of heroin, 7 kilograms of ganja, 6 kilograms of poppy husk, and 285 intoxicant pills. These items were taken from smugglers caught during raids carried out across multiple locations in Punjab, showing that the crackdown isn’t limited to just one city or district.

Part of a Bigger Mission Led by CM Bhagwant Mann

This action is part of Punjab’s long-running campaign called Yudh Nashian Virudh, which simply means “War Against Drugs.” Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, this campaign has now completed 556 days without stopping. In that time, the total number of drug smugglers arrested across the state has crossed a massive 77,559. This shows that the Punjab government isn’t treating this as a one-time drive. It’s a continuous, day-by-day effort to clean up the state’s drug problem, one raid at a time.

Not Just Arrests, But Rehabilitation Too

What makes this campaign a little different from a typical crackdown is that it doesn’t only focus on punishment. Alongside the arrests, police also counselled 9 individuals struggling with drug addiction and encouraged them to join de-addiction and rehabilitation programs. This shows a dual approach: catching those who supply drugs while also helping those who are victims of addiction get back on their feet.

Why This Matters for Punjab

Drug abuse has been a serious concern in Punjab for years, affecting families, youth, and communities across the state. Every seizure and arrest under this campaign chips away at the supply chains that keep drugs flowing into local markets. By combining strict law enforcement with public awareness and support for addicts, the state is trying to tackle the issue from both ends.

What’s Next?

Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Police have made it clear that this campaign is far from over. With daily raids, tips from the public, and continued pressure on smuggling networks, authorities say the fight against drugs will keep going until the state achieves its goal of becoming drug-free. For now, this latest action adds another chapter to Punjab’s determined battle against narcotics, one arrest and one seizure at a time.
