In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar Rural Police, under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, successfully apprehended two terror operatives — Mehakdeep Singh alias Mehak and Aditya alias Adhi — during an intelligence-based operation conducted in coordination with central agencies. The police also recovered a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG), which was allegedly intended for a targeted terror attack.
The operation marks another major success in Punjab’s ongoing crackdown against terrorism and organized crime, ensuring the safety and security of the state’s citizens.
Links to Pakistan’s ISI and Jailed Operatives
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were in direct contact with a Pakistan-based ISI operative, who had sent the weapon into India. The accused also maintained communication with Harpreet Singh alias Vicky, currently lodged in Ferozepur Jail.
Authorities confirmed that the RPG was meant to be used in a terror attack, but timely action by Punjab Police prevented a potential tragedy.
FIR Registered and Probe Underway
An FIR has been registered at Police Station Gharinda, Amritsar, and further investigation is ongoing to trace the full network involved in the conspiracy. Police teams are working to identify other operatives and handlers linked to this cross-border terror module.
Punjab Police’s Commitment to Peace and Security
The Punjab Police, guided by the state government under CM Bhagwant Mann, reiterated its commitment to dismantling transnational terror and organized crime networks sponsored by Pakistan’s ISI. The department emphasized that maintaining peace, harmony, and national security remains its top priority.
