The Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, continues its aggressive campaign against the drug menace through its flagship initiative, Mission ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ (War Against Drugs). Completing 253 days of sustained operations, the state police have made remarkable progress in dismantling drug networks and strengthening preventive efforts across Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann-Led Punjab Police Marks 253 Days of ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ Mission, Arrests Over 35,900 Drug Peddlers
According to official data, in the latest round of actions, police teams conducted raids at 303 locations and arrested 106 drug peddlers in a single day. With this, the total number of arrests under the mission has reached 35,925 since the campaign began — a significant indicator of the government’s zero-tolerance stance toward narcotics.
The campaign has been operating on three key fronts — enforcement, rehabilitation, and awareness. Alongside arrests and seizures, the Punjab Police have been holding awareness drives in schools, colleges, and villages to educate youth about the dangers of substance abuse. The initiative aims to replace fear and addiction with empowerment and opportunity.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab reiterated that the mission’s success
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has repeatedly emphasized that his government is fully committed to eradicating drugs from the state. “We will not rest until Punjab is completely drug-free. Every arrest, every awareness camp is a step toward saving our youth and securing our future,” Mann had stated earlier.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab reiterated that the mission’s success lies not only in enforcement but also in public participation. Citizens have been encouraged to report suspicious activities and assist police in building a safer, drug-free society.
The ongoing drive has earned appreciation from multiple social and community organizations, who have lauded the Punjab Police’s persistent efforts and the government’s holistic approach to addressing the drug crisis — from crackdown to rehabilitation.
As the mission enters its next phase, the Bhagwant Mann government plans to intensify operations further while expanding de-addiction and counseling centers across districts. The aim is to create a sustainable model for a healthy, progressive, and drug-free Punjab.
