Mann shared details of the meeting in a social media post, saying that the discussions were aimed at addressing matters related to Punjab’s interests and development.

The Punjab Chief Minister said that ensuring the state’s rights and interests remain firmly represented before the Centre continues to be a major priority of his government. He also reiterated his vision of transforming Punjab into a prosperous and progressive state, popularly described as “Rangla Punjab.”

The meeting comes at a time when Punjab is seeking greater coordination with the Union government on issues linked to infrastructure, development, agriculture and other areas important to the state’s economic growth.

According to Mann, the Punjab government will continue to raise matters concerning the people of the state while working towards securing solutions through discussions with the Centre.

The latest meeting also assumes significance amid preparations for the upcoming paddy procurement season. Recent reports said the Centre has agreed to lift 18 lakh metric tonnes of old grain stock from Punjab by September 20, creating additional storage space ahead of the new procurement season.

Mann has maintained that timely arrangements for procurement, storage and payments are essential to protect farmers’ interests and ensure a smooth procurement process.

The Chief Minister’s latest statement underlines his government’s emphasis on pursuing Punjab’s interests at the national level while seeking cooperation from the Centre on matters affecting the state and its people.
