In a significant law enforcement success, the State Special Operation Cell (#SSOC), Amritsar, has busted a cross-border arms smuggling network, apprehending four operatives and recovering illegal firearms. The operation highlights Punjab Police’s ongoing commitment to tackling organized crime and securing the state.
The arrested accused include Jugraj Singh (@Chiri), Kulbir Singh (@Nannu @Kalu), Arshdeep Singh, and Nachattar Singh, all residents of Tarn Taran. Authorities recovered four sophisticated 30-bore pistols with live ammunition from their possession.
Cross-Border Network Under Investigation
Preliminary investigations indicate that the arrested operatives were acting under the directions of a Pakistan-based smuggler involved in orchestrating the illegal movement of weapons into Punjab. An FIR has been registered at PS SSOC, Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to uncover and dismantle the entire network, including its upstream and downstream connections.
Punjab Police Reaffirms Commitment
The Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, reaffirmed its commitment to curbing cross-border arms smuggling and organized crime in the state. The successful operation is part of a broader crackdown on illegal arms, aimed at ensuring peace, safety, and security for citizens across Punjab.
This breakthrough not only prevents the circulation of illegal weapons but also sends a strong message to criminal networks attempting to operate across borders. Law enforcement agencies continue to work in close coordination to foil such attempts and safeguard public security.
