Bhagwant Mann promises ease-of-doing business during Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit

Highlighting the government’s efforts towards ‘Ease of Doing Business’ for new industries in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today showed the roadmap for industrial development with minimum government intervention.

He was addressing the inaugural session of the 5th Progressive Punjab Investors Summit. Mann said, “We will soon abolish CLU and NOC. The delay in the process of setting up an industry has disappointed investors.” He said that this conference is not about signing MoUs. It is a platform for learning and sharing ideas. We do not want to repeat the habit of making big announcements about MoUs as before. Most of them did not show any results on the ground. He unveiled the new ‘Industrial and Business Development Policy 2022’, which envisages investment incentives for expansion, new MSMEs, large units, export promotion and service and manufacturing start-ups.

Investment Promotion Minister Anmol Gagan Mann said on the occasion that we are investing heavily in infrastructure development to attract tourists with special emphasis on adventure and water tourism.

Medanta Group Chairman Dr. Naresh Trehan said, ‘We are coming to Punjab soon. We are working on establishing ourselves in Punjab at the earliest. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “We have invested in Punjab for decades. We have grown five times since 2007. We have four manufacturing units in Punjab. Simon George, President, Kargil (India) said, “We made our first investment in Punjab in 2016. We are in the process of doubling our investment in Punjab in the next two years. Ravikant Jaipuria, Chairman, RJ Corp (Food & Beverages), said, “We have two big plants in Punjab – Phillaur and Pathankot. We are in the process of doubling our production in Pathankot.”
