The Bhagwant Mann–led Punjab government has taken a major step toward strengthening rural infrastructure and uplifting village communities. In a significant move, the state government has released ₹332 crore dedicated to rural development under various schemes.
Funds to Directly Reach Local Bodies
As per the announcement, the funds will be transferred directly into the accounts of Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads. This initiative aims to ensure transparency, quicker implementation, and efficient utilisation of resources at the grassroots level.
Another ₹334 Crore to Be Released Soon
The government has also confirmed that the next installment of ₹334 crore will be released by December or January, further boosting development projects across villages.
Push Toward a ‘Rangla Punjab’
The AAP Punjab leadership emphasised that these steps are part of the larger vision of creating a ‘Rangla Punjab’ — a prosperous, vibrant and self-reliant rural Punjab. Funds are expected to support multiple sectors including sanitation, road development, water supply, community assets and rural welfare programs.
Strengthening Rural Governance
By placing financial resources directly in the hands of elected village bodies, the Mann government aims to empower local governance and accelerate on-ground development works.
