Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Introduces ‘Easy Registry’ System; Govt Claims End to Delays and Corruption in Property Registration

By streamlining procedures and standardizing requirements, the system aims to provide a smoother experience for the public.

Bhagwant Mann : In a major administrative reform, the Punjab government has introduced the ‘Easy Registry’ system aimed at making property registration transparent, hassle-free, and corruption-free across the state.

The initiative, launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, seeks to eliminate delays and alleged bribery practices traditionally associated with registry processes in tehsil offices and courts.

Bhagwant Mann: Transparent and Citizen-Friendly Process

According to the government, the new system allows citizens to get their property deeds registered at any sub-registrar office within their district, offering greater flexibility and convenience. The move is expected to significantly reduce overcrowding and waiting times at specific offices.

Officials stated that the process has been simplified to minimize human intervention, thereby reducing the scope for corruption and unnecessary objections often raised during manual processing.

Online Access and Helpline Support

The ‘Easy Registry’ system also enables online registration of property documents, allowing users to initiate and track their applications digitally. Citizens can access services through the official portal or seek assistance via the helpline number 1076, ensuring wider accessibility.

Relief from Bureaucratic Hurdles

The government emphasized that the reform addresses long-standing issues such as delays, repeated visits, and additional objections at the tehsil level. By streamlining procedures and standardizing requirements, the system aims to provide a smoother experience for the public.

Push Towards Digital Governance

The initiative is part of Punjab’s broader push towards e-governance and administrative transparency. By leveraging digital tools and simplifying processes, the state aims to improve service delivery and restore public trust in government institutions.

Officials noted that ‘Easy Registry’ could serve as a model for other states, marking a significant step towards efficient and citizen-centric governance in India.
