In a groundbreaking move set to reform the property registration process, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the launch of India’s first 'Easy Registry' scheme, aimed at eliminating red tape and corruption in land dealings. The announcement was made live from Mohali, with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal joining Mann during the official launch.

“Property Registration में क्रांतिकारी कदम।

देश की पहली 'Easy Registry' स्कीम की शुरुआत करने जा रहे हैं, अरविंद केजरीवाल जी के साथ मोहाली से LIVE,”

tweeted Bhagwant Mann in Hindi, echoing the same message in Punjabi.

What Is the 'Easy Registry' Scheme?

The ‘Easy Registry’ initiative is designed to simplify and digitize the property registration process, making it more accessible, transparent, and corruption-free for the average citizen. Key features of the scheme include:

Online application and scheduling of property registration.

End-to-end digital tracking of documents.

Reduced dependency on middlemen or agents.

Single-window clearance system to reduce delays and manual intervention.

 Leaders Speak

During the live address, Arvind Kejriwal praised Punjab for taking the lead in such a citizen-centric reform, calling it a “model for the entire nation”. Mann reiterated his government’s commitment to eliminating bribery, simplifying governance, and empowering citizens.

“This is not just a reform — it’s a revolution in governance. Now people won’t have to pay bribes or make multiple visits to government offices for property registration,” Mann added.

Implementation & Public Access

The scheme has been piloted in Mohali and will soon be expanded to all districts in Punjab. Citizens can access the new system via the Punjab Revenue Department’s online portal, with support centers to assist those unfamiliar with digital platforms.

Why It Matters

Property registration has traditionally been one of the most notorious areas for corruption and inefficiency in many Indian states. By making the process easier and more transparent, the Mann government is aiming to restore trust and enhance ease of doing business in Punjab.
