Massive Enforcement Drive Across the State
The large-scale operation was carried out by multiple police teams in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). Officials said the focus remains on dismantling organised drug networks, identifying repeat offenders, and preventing the circulation of synthetic drugs and heroin in vulnerable areas.
With these fresh arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended during the 326-day campaign has reached 45,748, reflecting the sustained intensity of enforcement measures under the state government’s anti-drug policy.
Focus on Rehabilitation Alongside Enforcement
Alongside strict police action, Punjab Police also emphasised rehabilitation and social reintegration. During the same operation, 27 individuals were motivated to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation, reinforcing the government’s dual approach of enforcement and reform.
Authorities reiterated that the fight against drugs is not limited to arrests alone, but also includes counselling, awareness, and support systems for individuals willing to leave substance abuse behind.
Commitment to a Drug-Free Punjab
Punjab Police stated that the campaign will continue with the same momentum, targeting both street-level peddlers and higher-level traffickers. Enhanced surveillance, intelligence-led operations and public cooperation remain key pillars of the drive.
The state government has consistently maintained that Punjab will not tolerate drug trafficking, and strict action will be taken against anyone involved, as part of the larger vision of building a ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab’.
