Punjab Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh has highlighted the role of upgraded sports facilities in encouraging young people to stay away from drugs and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

In a social media post, Singh said the sports grounds developed by the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government are helping connect youngsters with sports while also motivating people across different age groups to focus on fitness.

He cited the newly developed sports ground in Retgarh village of Bhawanigarh as an example of the transformation taking place in rural Punjab. According to Singh, improved sports infrastructure in villages is providing residents with better opportunities to participate in sporting activities.

The initiative, he said, reflects the government’s broader focus on promoting sports and fitness as part of efforts to build a healthier Punjab.
Singh concluded his message with the slogan “Khed’da Punjab, Tandurust Punjab” (A Sporting Punjab, a Healthy Punjab), underscoring the importance of sports in promoting physical well-being and positive engagement among the youth.
