Bhagwant Mann: Punjab to Provide Free Medical Treatment up to ₹10 Lakh per Family Under Chief Minister Health Scheme

He emphasised that healthcare is a basic right, and no individual should be deprived of treatment due to lack of money.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that every family in the state will receive free medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh under the Chief Minister Health Scheme (Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana). The scheme is designed to ensure universal healthcare coverage, allowing citizens from all sections of society to access quality medical treatment without any financial burden.

According to Bhagwant Mann, the scheme has been structured to be completely inclusive, with no conditions or restrictions based on income, caste, or social status. He emphasised that healthcare is a basic right, and no individual should be deprived of treatment due to lack of money.

Bhagwant Mann : Punjab Sets a National Benchmark in Healthcare

The Chief Minister stated that Punjab has become the first state in the country to offer such an extensive healthcare cover to its entire population. By extending benefits up to ₹10 lakh per family, the government aims to significantly reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses and protect families from falling into poverty due to health emergencies.

This initiative marks a major step towards strengthening the public healthcare system and ensuring timely treatment for critical illnesses, surgeries, and long-term medical care.

Focus on Equality and Dignity in Healthcare

Bhagwant Mann highlighted that the Chief Minister Health Scheme reflects the government’s commitment to equality, dignity, and social justice. By removing eligibility barriers, the scheme ensures that every citizen—whether rural or urban—can seek treatment without hesitation.

The policy is also expected to ease pressure on families during medical crises and improve overall health indicators across the state.

Towards a Healthier Punjab

The Punjab government believes that accessible healthcare plays a crucial role in building a productive and resilient society. Through this scheme, the state aims to move closer to a healthcare model where prevention, early diagnosis, and quality treatment are available to all.

With the rollout of the Chief Minister Health Scheme, Punjab has taken a significant step towards creating a health-secure and people-centric governance model, reinforcing the idea that public welfare remains at the core of state policy.
