Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday paid homage to the unparalleled sacrifice of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his family, recalling the historic events of Poh 7, a day deeply etched in Sikh history.

After leaving Kila Sri Anandgarh Sahib, Sahib-e-Kamaal, Badshah Darvesh Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji set out to confront oppression and tyranny. It was on this very day that the Guru’s family faced the painful separation at the banks of the Sarsa River, a turning point that tested faith, courage, and resilience.
During this separation, the elder Sahibzadas, Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, and the younger Sahibzadas, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, were parted from their father, along with Mata Gujri Ji. This moment later led to supreme sacrifices that continue to inspire generations with the values of bravery, righteousness, and unwavering commitment to truth.
Bhagwant Mann said the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Sahibzadas, and Mata Gujri Ji stand as a timeless symbol of standing against injustice, even in the face of immense personal loss. He added that their courage laid the foundation for a legacy of fearlessness and moral strength that guides humanity even today.
Chief Minister urged people
The Chief Minister urged people, especially the youth, to draw inspiration from these historic sacrifices and uphold the ideals of justice, equality, and humanity in their daily lives.
He further said that the martyrdom and sacrifices associated with Poh 7 are not just chapters of history, but living values that define the spirit of Punjab. The unwavering faith shown by the Sahibzadas at such a young age and the immense strength of Mata Gujri Ji reflect the highest standards of sacrifice and moral courage. Bhagwant Mann emphasized that remembering these events is essential to keep the principles of self-respect, unity, and resistance against injustice alive in society.
The Chief Minister added that the teachings of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji continue to inspire people to stand firmly for truth and righteousness without fear or compromise.
