Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the grain market in Rajpura to review paddy procurement arrangements and assess the facilities available to farmers during the ongoing procurement season.

During the visit, Mann highlighted the positive impact of canal water on agricultural production, saying it had significantly improved paddy yields. He also noted that basmati farmers were receiving good prices for their produce.
Assures Timely Payments to Farmers
The Chief Minister reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to procuring every grain of farmers’ produce. He said payments were being transferred directly into farmers’ bank accounts within 24 hours, ensuring timely compensation for their hard work.
Addressing concerns over paddy lifting and the availability of space at rice mills, Mann said the state government was in continuous contact with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to resolve the issues. He added that special trains were operating daily to facilitate the movement of procured paddy and ease logistical challenges.
Mann expressed hope that farmers, commission agents, rice mill owners, transporters and labourers would celebrate a joyful Diwali this year. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting everyone involved in the agricultural procurement process.
The visit comes amid ongoing efforts to ensure smooth paddy procurement, timely payments and efficient transportation of crops across Punjab.
