Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken a strong stance against the ongoing strike by tehsildars, who are protesting in support of their colleagues accused of corruption. In a tweet, CM Mann reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance policy on bribery, stating that Punjab’s administration will not bow to pressure from corrupt officials.

The strike by tehsildars had raised concerns about delays in essential public services, including property registration, revenue documentation, and land-related matters. However, to prevent inconvenience to the people, the Punjab government has reassigned tehsil-level responsibilities to other officials. This decision ensures that citizens do not suffer due to bureaucratic disruptions and that government functions continue smoothly.

Alternative Arrangements to Keep Public Services Running

CM Mann clarified that other designated officials will now handle tehsil-related work, ensuring that the people of Punjab do not face hardships due to the protests. He mocked the striking tehsildars by wishing them a “collective vacation” and made it clear that their future postings would be decided by the public once their strike ends.

This move highlights the government’s commitment to curbing corruption within the administration. Mann’s firm action sends a message that public service cannot be held hostage by officials defending corruption.

Public Support and Government’s Firm Stand

The Punjab government’s firm approach has drawn mixed reactions. While many citizens have praised the administration for ensuring smooth public services, others are watching closely to see how the issue unfolds. The government’s stand reinforces its pledge to fight corruption and streamline governance.

As Punjab moves forward with alternative arrangements, the pressure now lies on the striking tehsildars to reconsider their stance. Whether they comply with the government’s directives or escalate their protest remains to be seen. However, CM Mann’s tweet makes it clear that there will be no compromise on corruption.
