Bhagwant Mann Says January 15 Fully Dedicated to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Confirms Appearance as Directed

The Secretariat noted that references to the chief minister’s other engagements had surfaced in public statements.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday clarified that he has no other engagements scheduled on January 15, 2026, and has fully dedicated the day to Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest temporal seat of Sikh authority. Mann stated that he has already informed the Office of the President of India about his availability and willingness to appear as per the directions of the Akal Takht.

In a message shared publicly, the chief minister said no official letter or statement had been issued by him or his office seeking a change in the scheduled time. He reaffirmed his respect for Sikh institutions and said he remains prepared to present himself with humility, in line with the orders of the Akal Takht Sahib.

Meanwhile, the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Amritsar, issued an official communication dated January 13, 2026, referring to its earlier letter sent on January 5. The letter stated that Bhagwant Mann had been summoned to present his clarification on January 15, 2026. The Secretariat noted that references to the chief minister’s other engagements had surfaced in public statements, following which, on the directions of the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, a revised time was communicated.

As per the latest directive, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is now required to appear at 4:30 pm on January 15, 2026, at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib in Sri Amritsar Sahib, to submit his clarification.

The development has drawn attention across Punjab, with political and religious observers closely watching the proceedings. Mann’s statement emphasizing his readiness and respect towards the Akal Takht is being seen as an attempt to reaffirm his commitment to Sikh traditions and institutional decorum.
