Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly opposed what he described as the Centre’s interference in matters concerning Punjab’s constitutional rights and the functioning of the judiciary.

In a statement, Mann said Punjab would not tolerate any move that could undermine the state’s constitutional rights. He maintained that protecting the interests of Punjab remains a priority for his government.

Mann alleged that the Centre’s involvement in judicial matters was a matter of serious concern and said his government had consistently opposed such interference. He asserted that constitutional institutions must function within their respective spheres and that the rights granted to states under the Constitution should be protected.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the people of Punjab to remain united on issues concerning the state’s rights and interests. He said that unity was essential to ensure that Punjab’s constitutional and democratic interests were adequately protected.
Mann further said that his government would continue to raise issues affecting Punjab at every appropriate forum. He reiterated that the state would not step back from defending its legitimate rights and interests.
