Bhagwant Mann : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has strongly criticised the Congress, accusing it of once again exposing its “anti-Punjab face” over the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) issue. Addressing a press conference, Cabinet Minister Barinder Goyal presented key facts and warned that decisions taken by the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government would have serious financial consequences for Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann Slams Congress Over BBMB Burden, Calls It Anti-Punjab Move
According to the minister, the Himachal Pradesh government has imposed an additional financial burden of ₹500 crore on BBMB, a move that will directly and indirectly impact Punjab as well. He said this unjustified economic load would ultimately translate into increased financial pressure on Punjab, which is already contributing significantly to the BBMB framework.
AAP leaders alleged that the Congress, while claiming to protect state interests, has repeatedly taken decisions that harm Punjab’s economic and resource security. The party said the latest move reflects Congress’ disregard for Punjab’s rights and financial stability.
Minister Barinder Goyal asserted that the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government will firmly oppose any unfair financial burden on the state. He emphasised that Punjab will fight this issue at every possible platform to safeguard its interests and ensure that no unjust liability is imposed on the people of the state.
The party said it will continue to stand against policies
AAP Punjab reiterated that the Mann government remains fully committed to protecting Punjab’s water, power and financial rights. The party said it will continue to stand against policies that weaken Punjab’s position and assured citizens that the state government will not allow Punjab to suffer due to politically motivated decisions taken elsewhere.
